Even more than the equipment that define the movement between parts and abrasives, chips correspond to the tools in operations of mass finishing and their correct choice is essential to obtain a successful result.
Whether they are intended for deburring operations or polishing [1], abrasive chips are characterized by :
- A base or binder : mineral for ceramic or porcelain, polyester for plastics, or metal (copper, stainless steel, steel…).
- An abrasive filler : Aluminium oxide, Silicium oxide, Silicon carbide, Silicium oxide, Boron carbide, Boron nitride, Diamond micro-powders (Monocrystalline or polycrystalline)…
- Their shape and dimensions defined by the workpieces ( straight or angle cut cylinder, triangle, ellipse, cone, pyramid, tristar, ball, Paraboloid, star, wedge…)
